He always wished someone did this for him the first year he starting teacher here. Because it's really hard coming into a new school, not knowing anyone or your way around. So he got some things together for Nixie Auttenberg which he thought would be a nice "Welcome to Cascade" gift. It had a map, some tea, new quills, and a list of all the classrooms and their teachers. Just something little you know? Sure it might be a little lame but he was a little lame himself when he got to be himself. Not when he had to put on the act and be whatever the O'Briens needed him to be. Weather that was the judge, the jury or the executor.
Gwaine shook his head and sighed getting up and walking over to the room Nixie was in and knocking on the door. The bag filled with everything he got for her in hand as he waited for it to open. It was the first time he was really going to be speaking to her and he was a little nervous, just because he wasn't always the best at the social aspect of living, a bit of a introvert this one is. But he was going to make the effort because it was the polite thing to do.

Her planning period was going decently, she supposed. After receiving a few tips from River, she was getting better bit by bit at explaining her lesson plans the way they needed to be explained for the students. Her English would improve the more she interacted with people speaking the language, and as much as she knew this to be true, it still didn't make her any more comfortable with the idea. Most of the encounters she had involved some sort of flirtatious commentary or gestures thus far, and it was unnerving to someone who just flat out wasn't used to it. How did one really flirt, anyway? Better yet, how did one even strike up an interesting conversation nowadays? All she knew aside from learning how to teach over the last few years was how to be stealthy, conniving, and lethal..
There was a knock at her door that echoed through her silent classroom, causing her to jump to her feet in a defensive position. After realizing it was simply a knock, she stepped lightly towards the door so that her footsteps wouldn't be heart and peeked through a tiny hole she had put in the door in order to observe visitors before she opened up her classroom to them. But, much to her surprise and relief, it was another professor. The DADA professor from a couple doors down who she had been informed was Professor Reid.
Slowly opening the door, she looked up to the man and gave a small nod to him. "Professor Reid, yes?" She couldn't go calling him the wrong name, after all, so she figured she ought to clarify before putting her foot in her mouth. "Wasn't expecting visitor. Can I help with something?"
